Mapping metadata between ANZLIC and AGLS metadata profile
(version 25 February 2010) [PDF 180kb]

NOTE  Due to the AGLS being updated early in 2009, a mapping between the new AGLS and the ANZLIC Metadata Profile was undertaken between NAA, OSDM and GA. It has not been formally endorsed but is included here for your information.

Metadata Entry Tools

The BlueNet Metadata Entry and Search Tool (MEST) is based on GeoNetwork version 2.2. The modifications support the following profiles of the ISO19115 geographic metadata standard:

  • ANZLIC Metadata Profile (version 1.1)
  • Australian Marine Community Profile (MCP) (version 1.4 using ISO19139)
  • Australian Defence Organisation (ADO) Profile
  • World Meteorological Organsation (WMO) Profile.

The ANZMet Lite metadata collection tool is a basic, standalone application that supports the creation of an ANZLIC-compliant metadata record. The application is designed to self-install once the file has been unzipped and selected. Documentation is available here.

Codelists

Controlled vocabularies previously used by the ANZLIC Metadata Guidelines (version 2.0; February 2001) can be used in ANZLIC Metadata Profile XML. These codelists are available in the appropriate XML format as defined in ISO/TS 19139:2007.

Metadata conversion

The following XSL converts compliant ANZLIC Metadata Guidelines (version2.0) metadata XML to ANZLIC Metadata Profile (version 1.1) XML.

Schematron files

The ANZLIC Schematron files are provided to developers to facilitate testing of conditional elements of the ANZLIC Profile. Schematron code is designed to verify that where an ANZLIC Profile conditional element has been completed, that any/all subsequent dependent elements have also been completed. It will report any errors or omissions.

[1] ANZLIC Schematron that checks the constraint rules except the last four in table A.1 of ISO 19139. This covers nearly all of the constraints of ISO 19115. It also checks that the fileIdentifier is mandatory for the ANZLIC Metadata Profile constraint.

[2] ANZLIC Schematron that checks the fileIdentifier has content to help prove compliance to the ANZLIC Metadata Profile.

[3] ANZLIC Schematron that checks that the code list values are available from the code lists; i.e. it finds a codeList and checks that the codeListValue is in that codeList.

NOTE 1 your parser must use ISO Schematron, XSLT 2.0 and XPATH 2.0 to properly apply these rules
NOTE 2 validation against the ISO 19139 XSDs is expected before validation using the above XML
